Perhaps we should start from the beginning, Lacquer Head grew up a poor young boy in the back woods of North Georgia, lonely and desperate for an outlet Lacquer discovered the world of art. Even from a young age Lacquer was well ahead of the curve on any art project taken on by him. He spent many summer nights drawing the images that haunted him in his head. Having never once taken an art class, Lacquer Head did with colors only 20 year veterans of the game could pull off.
At the age of 19 Lacquer taught himself how to tattoo and quickly became a rising name in the tattoo industry due to the disturbing images created from his head. When he was only 21 he was published in his first magazine and was given respect for his amazing color abilities and design work. This would be the beginning of a trend that lasted until Lacquer was 29. Lacquer was one of the best tattoo artists in the southeast region and is still recognized as such.
The date was December 20th, 2007. Lacquer was battling many health problems brought on from the tattooing lifestyle. 60+ hours a week tattooing ungrateful people who saw him as a machine not a tool. His body simply was quitting on him, first his back, then his eyes, and then the big one. On 12/20/07 Lacquer Head had a severe panic attack brought on by the huge amounts of stress in his life and the constant struggle to due more and more with less and less. When he arrived at the family doctor his blood pressure was dangerously high and Lacquer was completely just drained mentally and physically. Under the advice of two doctors Lacquer retired from tattooing, he was on the doorstep of stroke or heart attack at the age of 29 completely due to tattooing and the stress collected over the years. Lacquer had been battling many health issues like manic depression, anxiety, stress, a severely curved spin, eye sight quitting, wrist popping ever time they were moved, etc, but most important he had developed a social disorder from people treating him unkindly through the years. Many events added up over the years to create this unnatural mind set and fear of people.
On January 24, 2008 Lacquer Head discovered clay. These are his first pieces that will sure to prove collectable very quickly. Lacquer is throwing clay full-time by himself and wishes to remain only known as Lacquer Head. This stems from his fear of people and the drive to push pottery to a new level of confidence and power. This man is sure to be the next huge event in the pottery world and looks forward to gaining the respect of the pottery world, maybe even revealing himself in the future. But as of know just enjoy his works and help support a man that will push the limits in anything he does. Lacquer Head has overcome many things; this is just a bump in his road.
